Jack up your almond milk with a few SUPER ingredients. If you’ve seen recipes for golden milk or turmeric milk before, you’ll know that many of them require juicing. If you are into juicing…good on you! Not me, I can’t stand cleaning out my juicer…ugghhhh. So, I have adapted this recipe to require NO JUICING. And you get the added benefit of the fiber in the pulp!

So, here’s what you need…

2 Oranges, peeled and de-seeded

1 to 2 inch piece of fresh Ginger, peeled

3 inch piece of fresh Turmeric*, peeled

4 cups Almond Milk (I use homemade but you can sub store bought, or another type of milk if you prefer)

½ tsp Cinnamon

pinch Sea Salt

¼ tsp Black Pepper or pinch of Cayenne

2-3 tbsp Maple Syrup (or your favorite natural sweetener, add more or less to taste)

Start by blending the oranges, ginger and turmeric in a blender. Blend until very smooth. The color will be light yellow at first but will turn quite a bright deep yellow. Once this is very well blended, add the almond milk, cinnamon, sea salt, cayenne, and maple syrup. Blend for an additional 30 seconds until well combined and frothy. Feel free to add ice cubes for a chilled, thick smoothie. Alternatively, throw it in the refrigerator until cold. This will last 2-3 days in the fridge, just shake before you drink it.

This shake is an awesome anti-inflammatory (thanks to the turmeric and ginger). The pepper will help to make the curcumin in the turmeric more bio-available….so your body with reap more of it’s MANY benefits. The oranges will kick up your vitamin C.

Hope you enjoy making this drink. It tastes awesome and will give you a great immune boost!

* Fresh will not settle like powdered turmeric will….and the flavor is better. Check Blush Lane if you can’t find it at your usual grocery store. I just bought fresh organic turmeric at Co-op. In a pinch sub 1-2 teaspoons of powdered Turmeric.

NOTE: Wear gloves while peeling the fresh turmeric…unless you want to have hands that look like an oompa loompa 😉
