Laundry on the long weekend?

It’s Day 11 of our Lifestyle Detox Challenge – let’s ditch those dryer sheets and fabric softeners.  These contain unwanted chemicals that can affect our air quality and endocrine systems.  Consider wool dryer balls – our friends from @nudemarket have put together a lovely gro laundry promo and will have these for purchase on May 22 at our CREATIVE Collective event.

In the meantime, try this DIY recipe for dryer static eliminator – thanks to Wellness Mama for the recipe and inspiration!

Dryer Static Eliminator

Natural dryer sheets are a great way to remove static, and they can be reused.

  • 1 cup white vinegar
  • 25-30 drops essential oils of choice (geranium, citrus, lavender, mint or a mixture)
  • 24 cloth baby wipes or old scraps of clean cut cloth cut into 8-inch squares

Mix together the vinegar with essential oils of choice in a bowl or jar.

Fold the wipes and place in your storage jar.  Slowly pour in the vinegar-essential oil mixture.  You want to moisten, not saturate, the cloths.  Extra mixture can be stored in a capped bottle.

To use, add 1 wipe per dryer load to freshen laundry and reduce static.  The vinegar smell will evaporate during drying and essential oil scent will remain.
