Some tips from the Space Reclaimers on how to create space (first take a deep breath and then let it go) 😉
- Make decluttering your space a top priority and set a plan to get it done (i.e. room by room)
- Get help from a professional organizer if you need a kick-start
- Ask yourself is this item irreplaceable or sentimental? If not, consider getting rid of it.
- Purge every six months – regular decluttering helps to keep you organized and keeps it from being overwhelming
- If you want to purchase something new, make space for it by getting rid of something you already have
- Fold clothes to maximize space
- Seasonal clothing – store on top shelving where it is less accessible in well labelled or in clear containers
- Think about the 20/20 Rule for those items you keep “just-in-case” – if you can replace something for less than $20 and in under 20 minutes, it can safely be decluttered
- Keep in mind your end goal and remember why you need to do this.
