With the sunshine dampened – literally – over the last couple of weeks here in YYC, consider this interesting read about why cloudy days help us think more creatively.  Author and NYU professor Adam Alter, who studies behavioral economics, marketing, and the psychology of decision-making, gives pause for thought: “Sunshine dulls the mind to risk and thoughtfulness.”  Whaa?

And if you are shepherding kids in between bouts of rain and cloud and managing fear and disappointment about thunderstorms, consider this children’s parable by Akiko Miyakoshi: The Storm, a gentle reminder that even life’s stormiest spells eventually come to pass and unclouded blue skies will return.

Take advantage of some creative and inward down time if your outdoor pursuits are somewhat thwarted by the weather this week – check out @ryanwunsch77, storm chaser and photographer for some visual inspiration.

And finally, a ray of sunshine – we are excited to have Karen Dawson back to gro with us for our September CRAFT event!  Stay tuned for details.
