Surrounded by the work and inspiration of artisans in the unique Greater Goods space in Bridgeland, Kimberly Wiebe, Strength & Soul shared her story of how she designed a life that she loves.

Some thoughts Kimberly shared:

  • Allow the dreaming side of you to come forward and start creating your own vision for your life.
  • Ask yourself: What do I really want? and What lights me up?
  • Start writing. Write it down as a way to get to know what’s inside of you. Spend time to get to know yourself and develop an awareness of living your life. Spend time with your uncomfortable feelings. Look at the thoughts and feelings behind your actions.
  • You can start by taking little steps towards your vision. Little steps that lead to action will lead to bigger more meaningful changes.
  • The journey of life is to be aware that you are everything. Everything you need to design a meaningful life that is authentic to you is inside of you.

In Julia Cameron’s book The Artist’s Way, she introduces a pivotal tool called the morning pages.  These are three pages of longhand writing strictly stream-of-consciousness: “…another morning.  I have nothing to say.  I need to wash the laundry.  A full slate of chauffeuring tonight.”  You can hear Julia explain herself here if you are curious 😉

This approach clears the mind of clutter and can help you start to see yourself and your best life more clearly.  It’s also a great first step to begin a journaling practice – these writings are not meant to be brilliant, neat or even re-read. They can be your first step towards action and meaningful change.

Will you try?
